Early life
Princess Mako was born on October 23, 1991 in Tokyo Imperial Palace, Tokyo. He was born in the Imperial household body hospital. Mako grew up with his younger brother, Prince Hislahito, and his younger sister, Princess Kako.
For elementary and middle school education, he has studied at Gakushin’s school. In July-August 2010, he joined the University College, Dublin (UCD) where he studied English. Then, he joined the International Christian University from where he held a bachelor’s degree in art and cultural heritage.
In September 2012, he joined the University of Edinburgh and studied the history of art for nine months until May 2013. Then, he attended the University of Leicester from where he received a MA at the Art Museum and Gallery Study.
