A picture is worth a thousand words. Apparently a lot of money too. It’s no secret that when writing blog posts, you can’t always have your own photography to match the content. This is where sites like Shutterstock and Getty Images come in handy. But often, they come with a hefty price tag that some bloggers aren’t prepared to shell out for. So, without further ado, here are 15 sites you can find royalty free images to use in your blogs.
1. FreeImages
The name does exactly what it suggests. FreeImages has over 300,000 stock photos to choose from. It’s a great source to find what you’re looking for, but you will have to get the photographer’s permission before using their pics.
2. PhotoPin
PhotoPin let’s you search millions of high quality photos to use in your blogs as long as you link to the original creator.
3. Freerange Stock
Freerange Stock boasts a massive inventory of high res shots. They have a model that seems to work. They share their ad revenue with the photographers. You will have to create an account with them but it doesn’t take very long.
4. MorgueFile
MorgueFile is a great place for designers and creatives to find free stock images. It also has a great tutorial section called “classroom” for students wanting to learn more about the craft.
5. Unsplash
Unsplash is probably my favourite for abstract, high quality images. They post 10 images every 10 days and they’re just lovely.
6. Pixabay
Pixabay has over 370,000 free photos, vectors and art illustrations to choose from. They also have a great UI so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for.
7. Gratisography
Gratisogrophy offers some of the ‘cooler’ and more artistic free stock photos from the Internet. They have a coffee fund that you should donate to, because without coffee, none of this would be possible.
8. Pickup Image
Pickup Image hosts one of the largest databases on the Internet for royalty free images. A lot of the content is of nature, making it a perfect marriage for lifestyle and travel blogs.
