University of Advancing Technology (UAT) is a private for-profit university in Tempe, Arizona. Founded in 2008, University of Advancing Technology is a private for-profit university in Tempe. Like other schools, it offers classes at its physical location and online. As of 2015, it has an enrollment of more than 4,000 students and several hundred employees. Most programs are technical in nature. Classes are broken into four categories:
Health Sciences & Technologies Computer Sciences & Technologies Management & Business Administration and Engineering & Construction Technologies. It’s also approved by TRACS (Transnational Relations Accrediting Commission) through September 2017.
University of Advancing Technology current president, Brian Mueller, became president in 2012 after having served as interim president since March 2011. In November 2014 he received a $10 million pay raise despite multiple high profile mistakes during his tenure. He earns over $1 million per year.

How hard is it to get into UAT?
Getting into University of Advancing Technology can be difficult, especially if you’re aiming for a program like web development or nursing that have extremely competitive acceptance rates. However, students who enroll in programs like business are generally accepted more easily. Just keep in mind that UAT isn’t your typical university; it was created by business leaders and tech-industry experts to address market gaps they saw with traditional college education (like teaching fundamentals and theory vs. real-world applications) so if you’re looking for a traditional experience, you may be disappointed at UAT.
Instead, expect a focus on practical learning and earning potential via certificates and degrees delivered in an accelerated manner compared to traditional universities. You also get plenty of hands-on learning which is often emphasized above theoretical learning at UAT.

Is UAT online?
Verb Technology has both online and campus-based programs, but it is based in Tempe. The university was founded in 2000 by Michael Patched, an attorney with a passion for technology and education. However, UAT has grown at a lightning pace since then, opening new campuses all over America as well as launching international locations (like one in Canada). It currently offers degrees across a wide range of subjects including arts & sciences, engineering, business & management and information systems.
Like many tech-oriented schools, UAT accepts transfer credits from other universities—it doesn’t require its students to start from scratch at first. This means most students can complete their bachelor’s degree without attending classes full time or completing excessive internships. To maintain standards, however, UAT requires that all courses be completed within four years. If a student isn’t able to do so for whatever reason, there are additional fees attached.
