Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye is an officer in the Amestrian State Military who is assigned to serve under Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, and reports directly to Major General Grumman. She serves as his adjutant, carrying out his orders, relaying information, and providing sniper support when needed. She follows her duty diligently and without question but has proven that she will voice her opinions and concerns to Mustang if she feels it necessary.
Is Riza Hawkeye Elizabeth?
When it comes to series that sprawl across multiple mediums (anime, manga, games), it can be difficult for some fans to really feel a connection with anyone particular character. But Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood manages to fix that by giving just about every character a moment in the spotlight. The show’s most recent episode allowed Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye to shine as she took on her old friend’s adversary with her trusty sniper rifle in hand.
Since little has been shown of Ms. Hawkeye before (and even less of her personality), let’s look at what we know so far and speculate over who she could possibly be based on similar characters from other mediums! One thing that sets Riza apart from many of her colleagues is how close she seems to be with both Edward and Alphonse Elric. This kind of closeness isn’t uncommon among military personnel, but it does seem like there might be something more going on between these three. Perhaps they were part of a special unit together or maybe they were friends before joining up with Colonel Mustang’s group.
Does Riza Hawkeye like Mustang?
Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye has been present in every major event of Mustang’s campaign, including his conflicts with both Dreyfus and Bradley. She supports Roy at each step of his rise to power and has been known to work tirelessly for him in planning operations or getting valuable information. Some people have taken notice of her unusual closeness to Mustang and she’s been seen at his side often enough that some have started speculating about their relationship. While some have suggested that Hawkeye might be romantically involved with Mustang, it’s also possible that their relationship has no such element—that it’s merely one of trust and respect between skilled soldiers (Hawkeye) and her commander (Mustang). Or maybe you just want them to get together. With all these questions surrounding her character, we thought it would be interesting to look into who Hawkeye really is.
Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye entered service as a Second Lieutenant after graduating from West Point Military Academy in 1915. She was quickly assigned to work under Colonel Roy Mustang and has been his right-hand woman ever since. She’s proven herself to be an expert marksman and sharpshooter, with her skills being comparable to those of Mustang himself which says a lot considering that he’s considered one of Amestris’ top soldiers.
Her weapon of choice is a standard-issue military rifle, but she also carries around two concealed knives for use in close combat situations. While her primary function on missions is as Mustang’s bodyguard, she has shown great skill in espionage and covert operations, which has earned her many commendations over the years.
Is Riza Hawkeye an alchemist?
No, Lieutenant Anko Mitarashi is not an alchemist. She’s a state officer in Amestris who often accompanies her superior and close friend, Colonel Roy Mustang. They’re a formidable duo, just as comfortable solving conflicts with their wits as they are with their firearms and other assorted weaponry. More than that, she’s also one of Mustang’s closest confidantes so much so that he trusts her to make sure his body gets cremated if he dies in battle fate she knows maybe inevitable considering what they do for a living. Still, she remains loyal to him nonetheless.
it takes more than some hollow words from someone else to turn her away from him completely after years of service together. Even when she becomes estranged from him because of his new role at Central Command, she still comes through for him when he needs her most. As such, it makes sense why Mustang would want to leave all his worldly possessions to her in case something happens to him. He doesn’t have any family or friends left (aside from Hughes), but Hawkeye has been there since day one and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
