While some Cute anime shows rely on non-cute characters, Lovely Complex proves that cuteness can come from anything and anyone. Lovely Complex is a Japanese romantic comedy series based off of NaoshiKomi’s manga of the same name.

Taira-Kun and Kumiko are high school students who fall in love with each other after their mutual friend claims to be in love with Taira but turns out to be in love with Kumiko. The two develop feelings for each other after he protects her from a group of boys and through various misunderstandings, which makes for an entertaining mix of comedy and romance. Sore gaSeiyuu:

Have you ever wondered how voice actors and actresses get into voice acting? What sort of personalities make for good voices? Sore gaSeiyuu! is a fun, Cute anime series that shines a light on these questions by following a newbie seiyuu’s journey. It’s an entertaining show with hilarious and relatable characters, so if you’re looking for a cute anime to watch during your lunch break or on Saturday mornings, consider Sore gaSeiyuu!!.

She moves to Tokyo and joins Kineshi Pro (who also happens to be her cousin), but she quickly learns that becoming a seiyuu isn’t as easy as she thought it would be. Aspiring voice actors must do more than just be able to sing well—they have rigorous training regimens and have no choice but to eat, sleep, and breathe their craft. In order to succeed in her goal of becoming one herself, Suzu must learn from her seniors at Kineshi Pro while navigating life in Tokyo.

Hanayamata:

If you’re in love with Cute anime shows and don’t have a lot of time to spare, there are few series that are as adorably short as Hanayamata. This 12-episode series follows a group of five friends who join an afterschool club to do something they all love – dancing. The result is a series that is easy to get into, perfect for fans of slice-of-life anime. It even features voice acting from Jpop band AKB48!.

With cute moments, funny comedy, and fun songs and dances throughout each episode, it’s no wonder Hanayamata has become one of my favorite series so far. And at only 12 episodes long, it won’t take up too much of your time either. Give it a watch if you want something cute and fun without feeling like you need to invest hundreds of hours before getting any kind of payoff.
